Carol VanSickle died peacefully in her sleep on December 5th, 2020, with her husband by her side after a 3-year struggle with aggressive multiple myeloma. Carol Susan Wismer was born on August 30, 1958, in Odessa, TX, to Elaine (Bandt) Wismer and Richard Wismer. Carol’s family moved to her father’s home town of Britton, SD, in 1960 where she lived until going to college. She graduated from Britton High School in 1976, attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSM&T), graduating in 1980 with a chemical engineering degree. Her father, brother and sister all graduated with engineering degrees from SDSM&T. She was hired by Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, MI, where she worked for 34 years, retiring in 2014. She worked in the Midland, Auburn and Hemlock plants primarily in chemical manufacturing engineering and quality manufacturing engineering roles. She really enjoyed the jobs which kept her active in the chemical manufacturing technical details.

Jacquelyn Kay Harstad, the daughter of Everett and Lorinda (Roth) Morehouse, was born on September 10, 1943, in Bristol, SD. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Bristol High School in 1961. While working as a bookkeeper for Hansmeier and Son, Jackie met Gene Harstad, who was her younger sister’s teacher, at a school function. Soon Gene became Jackie’s love of her life. The two were united in marriage on May 30, 1964, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, SD. They lived in a few towns before settling down in Britton, SD in 1970 where they raised their three children: Dana, Dawn and David. Gene’s school administration career took them to Rosholt from 1986-1997, then to Jackie’s hometown of Bristol in 1998, before they retired to Alexandria, MN in 2010.
Cecelia Elizabeth (Rassier) Holen was born August 16, 1925 to Herman and Mary (Tchida) Rassier in Lake Twp., Marshal County South Dakota. She died at the age of 95 years on Friday, November 20, 2020 at her home in rural Bantry, North Dakota.
