FLORENZ STEINER
FLORENZ STEINER

Florenz Steiner was born on February 28, 1933, and was raised on a farm near Eden SD, where he first dreamed of farming his own land. After a severe crop failure ended that path, he served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, completing basic training at Fort Sheridan, then stationed in Mannheim, Germany. There he earned certification in canvas and leather upholstery for military vehicles and sent home thoughtful gifts, including poppy seed grinders and a full Rosenthal China set for his parents.
After returning to the States, Florenz moved to Omaha, where several of his brothers lived, and began what became a long career with Pepsi Bottling. He enjoyed his work, took pride in the company, and developed a passion for collecting Pepsi memorabilia.
While in Omaha, he also learned ceramics, creating treasured pieces for family members and a lighted Christmas tree he kept himself.
Florenz was known for teasing his nieces and nephews and for his smooth steps on the dance floor. Many family members remember waltzing, two-stepping, or polka dancing with him at weddings and The Ranch. In 2003, he retired and returned to his hometown of Eden, where he spent several years before moving to Sisseton. Florenz passed away on April 2, 2026, in Sisseton, SD.
Florenz was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Katherine Steiner, siblings Colleta (Leo) Aldentaler, Norbert (Fidelis) Steiner, Lorraine (Joe) Waletich, Laverne (Phyllis) Steiner, Duwayne Steiner, Dan (Rosemary) Steiner, Fred Steiner, Alvin Steiner, and Ruth Pruitt. He is survived by brother, Elmer and sistersin- law, Vivian, Pam, Jean and Paula plus many nieces and nephews.
