VEBLEN TURNS 125!
Veblen was the place to be last weekend as the community came together to celebrate its 125th anniversary in festive style. The milestone event drew hundreds of current and former residents, with class reunions serving as a big highlight and bringing together generations of graduates and friends. The celebration kicked off Friday evening with a Show & Shine car display on Main Street, followed by a fireworks show at the rodeo grounds and live entertainment at both Pub 605 and El Mitote. Class reunions were held throughout the weekend, filling the town with laughter, stories, and plenty of reminiscing.Saturday offered a full day of activities. The Fireman’s Breakfast at the firehall fueled the morning crowd, while Main Street buzzed with vendors, kids games, face painting, and a petting zoo. A bouncy house, water balloons, crafts, and piñatas kept younger visitors entertained all afternoon.A parade through town wowed the crowd at, and entertainment at the gazebo kept the fun going. Friendly competition heated up during the cow chip contests, both held on Main Street. The day ended on a high note with a street dance featuring music by Frost Fire.Sunday morning wrapped up the festivities with a community church service at the Lutheran Church. The weather cooperated, the memories were plentiful, and the pride in Veblen’s past and future was unmistakable.
