Both Britton-Hecla and Langford Area volleyball teams hoped to rebound from losses in final regular season matches when they opened Region 1B tournament play last night Tuesday.

Fifth-seeded Gayville-Volin knew they were in a ballgame in the first round of the Class 9B football playoffs on Thursday before subduing 13th seed Langford Area 36-14.

Unbeaten De Smet, ranked number one in the Class 9A media poll, showed the reason why with a 62-12 win over Britton-Hecla in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday.
