Grace Hatfield of Langford Area tried to block a kill attempt from Britton-Hecla’s Mallory Grupe in JV volleyball play.

Britton-Hecla senior BoDell Davidson stiff-armed a defender in recent gridiron action. Davidson ran for 104 yards against Howard in the first round of the Class 9AA football playoffs on Thursday and was the top rusher and passer for the Braves this season.

The Langford Area volleyball squad earned Marshall County bragging rights for this season after a hard-fought three-set victory over Britton-Hecla last week Tuesday.

Kalen Godel was a key cog in the Langford Area football team’s attack this season and picked up some yards on this play in recent action. He led the Lions in their season finale with 43 yards rushing and two pass receptions for 13 yards.

It wasn’t the type of season that first-year coach Michael Alberts had in mind for his young and outnumbered football squad this season, but despite going winless in eight starts the Lions’ boss was proud of his team for its effort.

This is the kind of defensive effort that Britton-Hecla will be looking for to stop a strong Howard running attack in the first round of the Class 9AA football playoffs on Thursday at Howard. BAN TABULATOR MACHINES?

Three SD counties (Gregory, Haakon and Tripp) will ask voters during the June 4 primary if they should ban the use of tabulator machines in future local elections. If the measures pass, the auditor’s offices in each county would have to hand-count ballots in the Nov. 5 general election and thereafter. Do you think tabulator machines should be banned?
