Carlson Teacher Of The Year
Jennifer Carlson is not going to let her students take the easy way out. After 21 years of teaching, she’s used to challenging her students. “As soon as I lower my expectations for them, I’ve made it ok to not do their best,” Carlson emphasized. It is because of that attitude and the positive results she gets in her classroom that Carlson was recently named as Britton-Hecla’s Teacher of the Year.

CFO Moved By MCHC’s Mission
Erik Peterson says he was vaguely familiar with the small town of Britton a year ago. As a football fan, he knew NFL player Dallas Goedert is from the area, and he had followed the story of Trevor Zuehlke that made statewide headlines. Though Peterson knew of Britton’s existence, it was not on his radar of places he might move to, that is, until May of 2022 when he saw an opening for Chief Financial Officer at Marshall County Healthcare Center.

Wheatcrest Employee Honored
Melissa Hunt says she is not very good at air hockey, but yet you could find her playing that game last week against Judy Andrews, a resident from Wheatcrest Hills Healthcare Facility in Britton. Hunt and Andrews were enjoying that game while at the coffee shop cups last week. Hunt, the Activities Director, at Wheatcrest Hills, takes the residents on these outings frequently. It is because of activities like that and her other fine work that Hunt was recently awarded the Mille E. Olson Award from the South Dakota Healthcare Association (SDHCA).
