Local Students Attend All-State Chorus

    Singers from both Britton-Hecla and Langford Area Schools traveled to Rapid City this past weekend to perform as part of the South Dakota All-State Chorus. The concert was held Saturday evening at Summit Arena at the Monument.
    Students from Britton-Hecla High School who attended were  Jerod Nebrida (bass), Jeris Stark (alto), Oliver Moeckly (tenor) and Anne Jensen (soprano). Langford Area attendees included  Kalen Godel (tenor), Eliana Darling (alto), Jordis Jenner (soprano), and Dawson VanderVorst (bass).
    The 71st Annual Choir was directed by Dr. Ryan Person from Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa. Chorus selections performed included “Splendor” by Elaine Hagenberg, “O salutaris hostia” by Pierre de la Rue, “Fire” by Katerina Gimon, “Moonlight and Rain” by Kevin Memley and “Papa Loko” by Sten Kallman. The chorus combined with All-State Orchestra to perform the “Star-Spangled Banner,” “Examine Me” by Cedric Dent and “Cindy” by Mack Wilberg.
