At the Britton City council meeting on Monday night, a concerning accounting error was discussed. Finance Officer Jennifer Athey pointed out an error in the spreadsheet used to create the city budget. The amount of taxes requested from the county, approximately $534,000, was added to the city’s estimated appropriations twice. Another Good Dousing

The weather Sunday developed into something that in recent months has been a rarity. An all-day rain shower for most of the area. It steadily rained from morning until well into the night. Much of the area reported around two inches of rain after the soaking. But some areas got substantially more than that. Folks around Clear Lake, Lake City, Eden and Langford measured around three inches. And weather reporters around Hillhead and Roslyn even recorded five or more inches. 08/16/2023 12:00 AM

Poll: TRUMP FIGHTS FOR HIS BIRTHDAY President Donald Trump recently hosted a UFC mixed martial arts event on the White House South Lawn as part of a celebration tied to his 80th birthday and the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary. Some people view it as no different than other entertainers and performers who have appeared at White House events under various presidents. Others believe a professional fighting event was not an appropriate use of the White House grounds. What do you think?

I have no problem with it. Presidents have hosted many types of entertainers and public events at the White House.

It was unusual, but fine.

I think it was inappropriate to hold a UFC event at the White House.
