Team Excellence For Interpers

Team Excellence For Interpers

The Britton-Hecla Oral Interpretation team wrapped up their season in style this past weekend at the State Festival in Harrisburg. The team earned three superiors, one excellent ranking and overall, brought home a Team Excellence Award.
Senior Brynlee Patterson competed in two categories. She earned a Superior for her Storytelling selection and an Excellent in Non-original Oratory. Juniors Oliver Moeckly and Jerod Nebrida finished a very successful year with their Duet selection and earned a Superior at State. Sophomore Paisley Bray was awarded a Superior for her Poetry piece.
Collectively, the B-H team also brought home a Team Excellence Award. Teams received this for earning at least two Superiors.
“We are extremely proud of the success this team has had all season,” said B-H Interp Coach Gretchen Christenson. “The scoring rubrics are subjective, and you never know going into State how each performance will be received. The nice part is students basically compete against themselves as there is no ranking. To have every interper come home with a medal is rare.”
Langford Area Interper Daniel Jesz also competed with a humorous piece. He received an Excellent ranking.

Some people view it as no different than other entertainers and performers who have appeared at White House events under various presidents. Others believe a professional fighting event was not an appropriate use of the White House grounds. What do you think?
