Cecelia Anderson, right, of Britton-Hecla will become the first girl from the school to compete in a state high school wrestling tournament this weekend. This is the first year that the South Dakota High School Activities Association has officially sanctioned a state meet for girls.

Britton-Hecla eighth grader Bryce Hawkinson has qualified for the Class B state wrestling tournament for the second straight year.
The Britton-Hecla gymnastics team finished eighth in the Class A state tournament on Friday. Sterling Mertens of Britton-Hecla competed on the balance beam in the Region 1A and Northeast Conference gymnastics meet last week. Mertens was the NEC vault champion and helped the Lady Braves to an eighth place finish in the state meet on Friday.
The Britton-Hecla gymnastics team brought home an eighth place team finish and Maggie Kilker placed eighth on balance beam at the Class A state gymnastics meet in Mitchell on Friday and Saturday.
Britton-Hecla’s Aidan Fredrickson went under a Warner defender to get this shot off in basketball action on Monday. The Braves host Lanngford Area on Thursday.
The Britton-Hecla boys basketball team came out on the short end of three contests in the past week, including a heartbreaking overtime loss to Aberdeen Roncalli after leading by nine points at halftime.
The Britton-Hecla and Langford Area girls basketball teams will compete in Region 1B tournament play next week.
