Roy Anderson, 95, of Oakes, ND, passed away on August 29, 2018, at Prince of Peace Care Center, Ellendale, ND.
The funeral was held on Saturday, September 1, at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes. Burial was in the Oakes View Cemetery.
Roy Oril, son of Olaf and Boletta (Otterson) Anderson was born on February 13, 1923, at McLeod, ND, where he grew up and attended rural school. He worked for Ray Jarrett on his ranch for several years before going to work for Visto Implement in Oakes. He also worked for Ed Robbins Plumbing & Heating plus numerous farmers in the Oakes area until going to work for the Soo Line Railroad.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Thomas and together they had Carolyn, Orlyn, Marlow, Warren, Marshall, and an infant son who died. He later married Wynie Mae Ferguson and born to this union were Ramona, Rodney and Cory.
Roy was a boxer and he enjoyed reminiscing about the times with his sparring partner, Joe Lewis. He also loved horses, old cars, and motorcycles, especially his beloved Harleys. Roy enjoyed all mechanics in general.
Heissurvivedbyhischildren, Carolyn Anderson of Fergus Falls, MN, Orlyn Anderson of Rapid City, Marlow Anderson of Underwood, MN, Warren Anderson of Mississippi, Ramona (Dale) Wampler of Hecla, Cory (Kathy) Anderson of Oakes, ND, Mouritz Engquist of Oakes, Merrill “Sparky” (Marcia) Engquist of Gwinner, ND, and Janis (Terry) Schell of Wasta, SD; daughter-in-law, Penny Engquist of Oakes; a sister, Doris Anderson; his grandchildren, Blaine (Melinda) Wampler, Ashley Wampler, Kayla (Tom Siedschlag) Anderson, Kelsey Anderson, Karley Anderson, Duane Brown, Delane Brown, Tessa Anderson, Devon Anderson, Cara Anderson, Brittany Anderson and Kyle (Amanda Bullis) Anderson; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Rodney, Marshall, Roland “Inky”, and an infant son; sisters, Selma, Alice, and Nellie; a brother Clarence; and two grandsons, Trevor and Brandon Wampler.
