Jim died as the result of a farm accident on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, near Brampton at the age of 71.
James William Bosse was born on November 21, 1947, in Britton to William and Martha (Stoppel) Bosse. He grew up on the family farm near Brampton. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John’s Lutheran Church of Britton and graduated from Sargent Central High School in Forman in 1965. Jim continued his education at NDSU and graduated with a degree in Ag Economics in 1969. Following his graduation, he started farming with his father and brother, Gerry. He continued to farm with his two sons until the time of his death.
On June 15, 1974, Jim was united in marriage with Deborah Marie Johnson. They made their home on the farm near Brampton where they farmed and raised their family.
He was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Britton and over the years had served as President, Vice-President and Financial Officer. His love of the land and farming also saw him serve in leadership capacities on the Sargent County Water Board from 1976-99 and again from 2007-16; the Sargent County Fair Board from 1986-94 and he was a member of the Brampton Township Board for 20 years.
Jim was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, at the cabin on Clear Lake. Jim was a true NDSU Bison fan and enjoyed the friendly rivalry between friends and family of SDSU. (GO BISON!) His hobby of raising elk made him well known for many years. He was also the #1 builder of all of Debbie’s projects!
Grateful for having shared Jim’s life for 44 years, 11 months and 27 days is his wife, Debbie of Brampton; his children, Heather, Jason, and Bruce (Jodi) Bosse, all of Cogswell; his grandchildren, Kaylee, Carson, Kaden, Sage, Elsa, Hadley and Cannon; two sisters, Donna (Charles) Zimmer of Cincinnati, OH, and Judy (Douglas) Ferguson of Fort Benton, MT; a brother, Gerald (Diana) Bosse of Cogswell; his mother-in-law, Donna Johnson of Britton; and several nieces, nephews, and their families.
Waiting to greet him on the other side are his parents and father-in-law, Eugene Johnson.
Jim’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.
Condolences may be directed to the family in care of Debbie Bosse, 12486 96th St.SE, Cogswell, ND 58017.
