Billed as “The Biggest Little Party in Northeast South Dakota,” Langford’s Summer Fest and Alumni Weekend was a great smalltown time this past weekend, despite a little bad weather Saturday. Pictured, are the Show ‘N Shine Car Show, the Yelduz Shriner’s Bags Tournament and the Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament.

The fun weekend got started with a Block Party at Healy’s Yard Friday evening and followed by an Alumni Party featuring Micah Small at the Last Resort.

On Saturday, the weather didn’t cooperate in the early morning hours with rolling storms and the 5K color run ended up getting canceled.

The Texas Hold’em Tournament at the Last Resort was well-attended. The winner was Lorrie Sanderson of Claremont. A donation was made to the Langford Community Foundation with proceeds from this event.

The Britton Yelduz Shrine Club Battle of the Bags Bean Bag Tournament winners were, 1st Place Jordan Deutsch and Justin Deutsch; 2nd Place – Sisseton Deutsch Team Saturday wrapped up with another Alumni Party featuring Eclipse at the Last Resort that evening.

A community church service was held Sunday morning

Ṫhe Langford Show ‘N Shine Car Show was a hit as usual during Summerfest. There were 165 cars were entered in the show.

The People’s Choice Award went to Shane Reich of Aberdeen with his 1927 Buick.

CHEVY CLASS: 1st place – Jacob Vander Vorst of Claremont with a 1969 Chevelle; 2nd Place – Shay Clemensen of Webster with a 1969 Camaro.

FORD CLASS: 1st Place – Lance Waddle of Webster with his 1960 Ford Falcon Wagon; 2nd Place - Harvey Opitz of Eden with a 1964 Galaxy.

MOPAR CLASS: 1st Place – Clint Duerre of Bristol with his 1971 Plymouth Cuda; 2nd Place – Rick LaBay of Westport with his 1970 Dodge Challenger.

STREET ROD CLASS: 1st Place – Mike Wiltfang of Aberdeen with his 1934 Plymouth Coupe; 2nd Place – Ron & Kitty Eisenbeis of Aberdeen with his 1934 Ford Roadster.

ANTIQUE CLASS:1st Place – Shane Reich of Aberdeen with his 1927 Buick; 2nd Place – Scott Nickeson of Veblen with his 1936 Chevy Pickup.

PICKUP CLASS: 1st Place – Denis Mikkelson of Langford with his 1957 Chevy; 2nd Place – Matt Halbkat of Webster with his 1970 Dodge D100.

OPEN CLASS: 1st Place – Heidi & Ray Bower of Frederick with their 2022 Chevy Vanderhall Venice; 2nd Place - Dan Arnesen of Aberdeen with his 1951 Mercury Custom.

BUICK / OLDS / PONTIAC CLASS: 1st Place – Cindy Reinbold of Aberdeen with her 1964 Buick; 2nd Place – Jim Brakefield of Webster with his 1955 Buick.

Next Year’s dates for Langford Summer Fest & All Alumni Weekend are July 22, 23, 24, 2023.
