SANDRA E. FREEMAN
Sandra E. Freeman of Britton, SD, passed away at her home December 22, 2023, at the age of 81. Sandy was born in Winona, MN November 11, 1942, to Arthur E. Avery and Dorothy Alma Louise (Stoltenburg) Avery. She attended schools in Winona, MN, Watertown, Bristol, and Aberdeen, South Dakota, and graduated from Aberdeen Central in 1960. While in high school, Sandy worked at Lacey’s Dairy Bar on South Main. After graduating, she worked in the National Food Store, (National “T”) as a cashier. She married and had two children, Kyle Ackerman and Tammy Ackerman. Sandy worked at 3M while the kids were in high school and college but quit in 1984 and began studying Communication Disorders at Northern State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree, and began working for the Black Hills Special Services Coop as the Speech Therapist in the Hot Springs School System which included two country schools for two years. She then moved to Bowdle and worked for the Oahe Special Education Coop for the schools in Bowdle, Hoven, Tolstoy, two country schools, and Wakpala. 12/27/2023 12:00 AM
