Marshall County Sharpshooter Austin Crawford finished off his competitive BB gun career winning the Humboldt Sharp Shooters tournament on Saturday with a score of 484.21.
MC Sharpshooters Third
The Marshall County Sharpshooters’ regular season has come to an end and Austin Crawford, competing in his last competitive BB Gun tournament, finished with a bang.
The fifteen-year-old son of Colby and Anisa Crawford of Houghton, finished it off in prime condition, shooting two scores of 99 and finishing first place in the tournament with a score of 484.21.
Austin led the team that included Amelia Crawford, Baylee Bender, Kaylee Carlson, and Kaylee Biel to a third place finish in the most competitive state in the nation. Combined, they had a score of 2268 and 86 centers.
Austin Crawford placed first in prone at 99 and seven centers and in sitting with 99 and six centers, fourth in standing at 94.04, and sixth in kneeling with a 96 and four center shots.
His sister, Amelia, finished in seventh in the tight competition with a total score of 469.15. She also received 10th place honors with a 92.02 in standing. Carlson showed her strength in kneeling with a 96.06 for fourth place.
Rosalyn Rapkoch continued to lead her 8 and 9 yearold team. She finished second overall with a score of 442 and eight centers. Rapkoch received awards in sitting with sixth place, scoring a 92.03; ninth in standing at 81; and 10th place for a 9-year-old scoring 93 and 2 centers.
Her sister, Tina, followed up with seventh place, scoring 420 and 10 centers. She also was seventh in prone at 93.03. Teammate Ariana Crawford finished fifth in sitting at 92.03, while Skyler Bender took home sixth in prone, scoring a 93 with three centers.
Alivia Crawford led the Marshall County 10 & 11 year-old squad with a seventh place finish at 445 and seven centers. She also was fifth in sitting with a 95.03. Rylan Carlson brought home seventh in kneeling with a score of 94 and two center shots.
“As the season is coming to the close it is very obvious that the state of South Dakota is stacked with many excellent marksman,” stated Rose Kraft, statistician for the Sharpshooters. “We have the state 4-H shoot April 29-30 where many of our youth will be participating. After that our season will come to a close.”
