Britton’s U14 baseball team swept a twin bill from Sisseton on Thursday, outscoring the visitors 30-5 in the two contests.

The local nine wasted little time in taking charge of the opener, pushing across three runs in the first inning and tacking on five more in the second. Ben Suther and Dylan Redler teamed up to pitch a nohitter with Suther fanning nine batters in three innings and Redler adding a pair of strikeouts in two frames. Suther also came up with a pair of singles, Mitchell Burger homered, and Colton Chapin, Lofton Heer, Redler, and Joel Quesada each singled.

In game two Britton led 65 after an explosive first inning and then held Sisseton scoreless the rest of the way, breaking the game open with an eight-run rally in the fourth frame. Lincoln Kilker, Burger, and Kaden Mills shared the mound duties with Burger fanning four in three and a third innings of relief. Suther, Chapin, and Bridger Patterson each had two base hits and Bryce Heitkamp and Jace Rein added safeties.

U12 Baseball

The Britton U12 baseball squad won three of four contests in the past week, sweeping a twin bill from Aberdeen Borge and splitting two with a strong Aberdeen Sharks club.

Britton 15-6 Aberdeen Borge 7-2

The Jacks bats came alive in the opener with Drew Heitmann, Bowen Micko, Easton Zuehlke, and Treyton Biel all slamming home runs to fuel a trio of five-run innings. In game two the local nine used strong pitching performances from Luke Bosse and Jack Teveldal who combined for a two-hitter, fanning 10 and allowing just one walk. Bosse had an 81% strike to ball ratio during his three frames and struck out seven.

In the first game Heitmann added a single to go with his homer, Levi Mills singled twice, and Liam Peters, Max Suther, Treyton Biel, and Bosse had safeties. Biel and Heitmann teamed up on the mound, and Biel fanned six.

Britton pushed across five runs in the first inning of the nightcap and held on for the win. Zuehlke doubled and singled, Teveldal singled twice, and Carter Nelson had a base rap.

Britton 4-2 Aberdeen Sharks 2-18

Britton struggled at the plate with just a single from Mills in game one but pushed across four second inning tallies, while Chaz Vietor and Levi Mills combined to strike out nine and allow just two hits against a strong Sharks ballclub.

In the second contest the local nine was guilty of nine fielding errors and managed just a double from Carter Grobe. Nelson, Henry Kilker, and Suther were on the mound.

“We had a big win over a very good Aberdeen Sharks team,” said Caoch DuWayne Bosse. “Only five runs were earned in the nightcap. Clean up the defense and the Jacks are right in this game.”
