Lions Lose Season Finale
Langford Area jumped out to a 20-13 first period lead but Waverly-South Shore used a big second half to post a 69-47 win in the regular season boys basketball finale on Friday.
The Lions, now 4-16 and seeded seventh in Region 1B, tangled with second-seeded Northwestern last night Tuesday in the regional quarterfinals. Semifinal games will be on Friday in Webster at 6 and 7:30 p.m.
“We started the game really well on the offensive end and had some good team play,” said LA boss Brian Schuring. “We struggled with execution the second half on both ends of the court. The boys played hard, which I really like with this group.”
On Friday Waverly-South Shore fought back from the 20-13 first quarter deficit by outscoring the Lions 19-8 and led 32-28 at halftime. The Coyotes then took charge in the second half, outscoring LA 37-19.
Kassen Keough led the Lions with 18 points. Jesse Keough added 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, and four steals.
