Coach Jacob Skogstad’s club travels to Castlewood this Friday before having a bye the following week. Great Plains Lutheran comes to town on Sept. 10 for the Braves’ homecoming and home opener.

Hamlin, which finished runner-up in the Class 9AA championship game a year ago, wasted little time in taking control of things on Friday. The Chargers lit up the scoreboard with 22 points in both the first and second quarters to lead 44-6 at halftime.

Chargers’ runningback Luke Fraser was a thorn in the Braves’ side, scoring five touchdowns in the contest. He scored on runs of three and 13 yards to start things off and added both conversion runs as well for a 14-0 lead.

Britton-Hecla senior Aidan Fredrickson responded with a 78-yard kickoff return to cut the lead to 14-6, but Fraser answered with three straight touchdowns. The Chargers added a 21-yard scoring pass before intermission for its 38- point lead.

The Braves drew first blood in the second half when Fredrickson scored on an eight-yard run. But Fraser responded with his final score, this time on a 29-yard pass play, and Hamlin ended the game on the 50-point rule with a score with just 29 seconds to play.

The Chargers piled up 306 yards on the ground and 153 via the airways to hold a 459- 171 total yardage advantage. B-H had 98 yards rushing, led by Fredrickson’s 74, and the senior signal caller passed for 73 more. He also led the defensive effort with 9.5 stops.

BoDell Davidson added 33 yards rushing, Dawson Treeby had a 37-yard pass reception, and Davidson grabbed three balls for 28 yards.
