Back In Action On Friday In Sisseton

Britton-Hecla’s track squad finally opened its outdoor season at a meet in Miller last week Tuesday but then had its sixth meet of the spring season cancelled on Friday when Webster called off its meet due to weather.

“We had a great first meet in Miller,” said B-H coach Steph Symens. “It was good to finally be able to compete. The kids were happy to be out on the track again. Miller was a great starting point. We know what we need to work on and have been working hard at practice to get things done.”

Abby Lee was the top finisher for Symens’ crew at Miller, finishing third in the triple jump, adding a fourth place finish in long jump, and teaming up with Sterling Mertens, Emma Kraft, and Ava Teveldal for fifth in the 1600 relay. Mertens was also fifth in long jump and Sterling Brassfield eighth in high jump.

On the boys’ side Dashel Davidson was fifth in the 100-meter dash and teamed up with Luke Storley, Collin Beaner, and BoDell Davidson for fourth in the 400 relay and the quartet of the Davdison brothers, Luke Storley, and Ty Fagerland wqas eighth in the 800 relay. BoDell Davidson, Jaxon Zuehlke, Wyatt Tosse, and Daniel Person were eighth in the 1600 relay.

Britton-Hecla was scheduled to be back in action at Milbank yesterday (Tuesday). The local thinclads will compete in Sisseton on Friday with a 1 p.m. start and Tuesday travel to Webster for the Eastern Coteau Conference Meet at 1 p.m.
