Britton-Hecla athletes were recognized at the school’s activities awards program held in the B-H Arena on Monday. Letterwinners and special award winners for all the sports during the school year were honored and are pictured with their awards and certificates.

Ty Fagerland and Sterling Mertens were announced as Britton-Hecla’s Athletes of the Year at the school’s activities awards program on Monday. Athletes from all sports during the school year were recognized at the event.

Marshall County 4-H Shooting Sports participated in the 33rd Annual American Legion Junior Shooting Three Position Air Rifle Postal Tournament. NationalAmerican Legion Commander Daniel J Seehafer, sent recognition to the Sharpshooters as South Dakota’s team sporter champions and Department of South Dakota Commander, Courtney Steffan, traveled to Britton to present the Marshall County team of Bailey Bender, Clay Crawford, Austin Crawford and Lexi Cutler the championship acknowledgement. Clay Crawford was the individual champion and has qualified for the national shoot in MIchigan later this summer. District V Vice Commander Mike Kraft is also pictured with the team. Britton American Legion Post 80 sponsors the Marshall County Shooting Sports program as part of the Americanism pillar of the American Legion.

Fagerland, Mertens Athletes Of Year

Britton-Hecla seniors Ty Fagerland and Sterling Mertens were recognized as the school’s Athletes of the Year at the annual awards recognition event held at the school on Monday.

Letterwinners for each of the sports, along with special awards winners were announced. Preston Kilker was also recognized by football coach Jacob Skogstad with the Friend of Football Award.

Several golf and track awards will be announced at a later date due to the fact that those sports have several events remaining in their seasons.
