ROGER ANDREWS

The memorial service for Roger Andrews was 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Britton United Methodist Church. Rev. Scott Andrews and Rev. Rodney Ulmer officiated. Inurnment at the Britton Cemetery under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel.

Roger Andrews was born May 16, 1937 to HarryA. and Muriel E. (Dyste) Andrews. During his high school years in Claremont, SD he participated in basketball and football, and was a member of the six man football team that holds the record with 61 consecutive wins. He graduated from Claremont High School. Following graduation Roger enlisted in the Army in July 1955 and was a paratrooper during his service. He was honorably discharged in July 1958.

On September 8, 1962 he married Judy Fenner, and from that union two sons were born. Roger took great joy in being a father and supported his sons anyway he could throughout their lives. After his own father’s death, Roger began running the family business, Andrews Blacksmith and Welding. That is where Roger truly showed his talents and created many wonderful pieces for all to enjoy. He was a gifted welder and something he enjoyed doing as a career, but also as a hobby.

For a few years, he owned and operated the Rainbow Bar in Britton, he was a pig farmer, and also helped many local farmers. He was a man who was willing to help and enjoyed being around others. That giving and warm personality shown through on his many years as a school bus driver and being the local Santa Claus. In his free time Roger enjoyed golfing and hunting.

He served on the board of directors at Venture Communications for several years and was part of the Masonic Lodge. Both he and JudyweremembersofUnited Methodist Church in Britton. He was proud of his 41 years of sobriety and attended AA meetings in Britton, Sisseton and Aberdeen.

Roger passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton. He was 85 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; his sons, Scott (Millie) Andrews and Chad (Jamie) Andrews; his granddaughters: Xenia Andrews, Breck Andrews, Selena Andrews, and Kayla Andrews; his sister, Julene (Pat) LaMee; his brother, Greg Andrews; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his parents; his brother, Robert Andrews; and his sister, Nyla LaMee.
