ROBERT LEWIS

Robert Lewis, 84, of Oakes, ND formerly of Hecla, SD, passed away at home on Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2022.

He was born October 31, 1938 on the family farm to James and Dena (Meyer) Lewis. He grew up and attended rural school near Hecla. After his schooling, Robert began his lifelong career in farming. He was united in marriage to Connie Clark and together they had four children, Kim, Kevin, Lisa and Kamra. He later married Joyce Luttrell Ruenz for a short time. On March 19, 2005, Robert married Barbara Severson at Rapid City, SD. They lived northeast of Hecla on the old Lloyd Leigh farm until 2013 when they moved to Oakes. After his retirement, Robert continued to work for farmers in the Hecla area. Robert enjoyed gun collecting, hunting, going to auction sales and tending to his big gardens.

He is survived by his wife Barbara; his four children, Kim (Owen) Nelson, Kevin (Jacki) Lewis, Lisa (Chuck) Dennert and Kamra (Troy) Serr; one sister, Ethel Lilla; eleven grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jim and Albie Lewis, four sisters, Darlene Dockter, Violet Dinger, Nellie Winburn and Kathryn Dinger, an infant sister, Alice and a son-in-law, Matt Treffer.

Visitation was held on Monday, November 28, 2022 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home in Oakes. His funeral was Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Oakes. Robert’s service was live streamed on the Dahlstrom Funeral Home website www. dahlstromfuneralhome.com on his obituary page.

Family prefers any memorials be sent directly to CHI Health at Home- Hospice at 367 2nd St. NW Valley City, ND 58072 which will be directed to the Hospice services in Oakes in lieu of flowers.
