RAMON K. “RK” JONES

Ramon K. “RK” Jones, age 91, formerly of Langford, SD, passed away on the evening of Thursday, March 3rd, 2022. He died at Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD, with his wife and son at his bedside.

The family is planning a celebration of RK’s life at the Langford Legion Hall for Saturday, April 9th, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. and all are welcome to attend.

RK was born on August 24, 1930, to Newton and Iva (Colcord) Jones. They lived on the Jones family farmstead three miles north of Langford. He attended country school through eighth grade and then Langford High School where he graduated in 1949. After high school, he attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, for two years. He then joined the United States Army where he served two active-duty tours during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Japan on the island of Okinawa.

After his service he returned to the Langford area. He started farming north of Langford until the farm sold in 1990. He then farmed with his dad, Newton.

On June 20, 1982, RK married Sharon Raye in Britton, SD. The couple lived in Langford and raised their son Josh.

RK enjoyed farming, history, playing cards and cribbage. He was an active member of the Yelduz Shriners for many years. He was also a member of the Langford Legion and the Britton VFW.

RK is survived by his wife, Sharon of Langford; his son, Josh (Amy) Jones of Aurora, SD and stepson, Larry (Deb) Kadoun of Urbandale, IA; siblings: LaVonne Helmer of Aberdeen, SD, and Jean (Bruce) Likness of Langford, SD; grandchildren: Brandi (Derick) Davison of IA; Jesse Kadoun of IA; Roxanne Kadoun of IA; Connor, Jaxon and Myles Jones all of Aurora, SD; great-grandchildren: Alice and Gage Davison of IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Newton and Iva Jones, and his brother, Keith Jones.
