NEAL R. KRAUSE

NEAL R. KRAUSE

Neal Ray Krause, beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa, entered God’s loving arms on May 10, 2023 at age 83.

Neal was born in Britton, SD on August 27, 1939 to Ernest and Minnie Krause. He lived in Kidder, SD and later returned to Britton, where he graduated from Britton High School as a leader on the Britton Braves basketball and football teams. He met Janice, the love of his life, in High School and they were married on September 6, 1959. They moved to Aberdeen, SD where Neal earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from Northern State University. He taught school in Wessington Springs, SD, and in 1965 moved his growing family to Omaha where he taught at North High and was soon selected as an Administrator for Omaha Public Schools. He became CFO and Secretary of the Board of Education in 1991, a position he held until 1996 when he and Janice retired.

Neal and Janice were blessed with five children. Family was Neal’s first priority and he devoted his life to caring for all those he loved. Retirement years were spent traveling to see kids and grandkids, never missing a special event. It became a Krause tradition to gather every year in Omaha for Thanksgiving. In addition to traveling, he enjoyed the outdoors spending time at the lake house, hunting, and fishing.

Neal’s love for family and faith in God were the cornerstones of his life. His calm, thoughtful demeanor was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
