MARLENE HICKEY

Marlene Hickey passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at her home in Britton, at the age of 75.

A private family service is being held and a public service will be announced at a later date. Her arrangements have been entrusted to the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.

Marlene Joan Bowman was born on August 31, 1946 in Britton, South Dakota to Lloyd and Evelyn (Lenius) Bowman. She attended school in Britton, graduating in 1964. After graduation, she moved to Aberdeen to attend beauty school.

She returned to Britton and worked at the Holiday Steakhouse with her mother, where she met John Hickey. The couple was married on May 16, 1970. Marlene later became a homemaker and ran an in-home daycare. She was the manager for the Britton Country Club for many years and ran a painting and house cleaning business in the off season.

Marlene was a longstanding and active member of St. John de Britto Catholic Church. She loved reading, traveling with her friends and spoiling her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Robin (Tony) Cologgi of St. Paul Park, MN; her daughter, Shannon (Justin) Falon of Baltic, SD; her six grandchildren: Hayley (Rich) Claflin, Jack Cologgi, Libby Falon, Darian Falon, Kendall Falon, and Hunter Falon, and her great-grandson, Henry Claflin.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Evelyn and her brother, Wayne Bowman.
