LOUIS “BUD” HENRY MARLOW

Louis “Bud” Henry Marlow, 90, of Havana, North Dakota, passed away on March 23, 2022 in Aberdeen, South Dakota after a long battle with emphysema and COPD.

He was born November 18, 1931 in Veblen, South Dakota, son of the late Louis V. Marlow and the late Alice A. (White) Marlow.

Louis was a proud member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Sioux Tribe of the Lake Traverse Reservation. He was a former member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge in Camden, Delaware and the American Legion in Kidder, South Dakota.

In his younger years in the Dakotas Bud worked on various farms. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and was a Corporal in the Motor Pool Division. He was stationed in North Africa and later in Dover, Delaware, where he met his late wife, Helen (Lane) Marlow, mother of their seven children. They made their home in Delaware. After an honorable discharge he spent the majority of his working days as a truck driver. While residing in the Dakotas he continued driving truck, and his last job was driving pup truck for Bernard Mahrer Construction.

His favorite holiday was the Fourth of July and loved traveling from Delaware to the Dakotas with his family. Louis was quite the jokester and loved to tease his sisters and his children. He enjoyed strumming tunes on his dobro and steel guitars, visiting with family and friends, playing cards, tin kering outside in his shed, but mostly liked taking his dogs for rides around town on his golf cart. He never met a stranger.

Louis is survived by his children, Ron Marlow (Jo Evelyn), Helen Hall (David), Brenda Ellingsworth (Fred), Louis “Buzzy” Marlow (Christine), Ralph Marlow (Faye), Norma Jean Burris, Robert Marlow (Ruthi). A special niece/best friend, Becky Parrow, whom he lived with and took great care of him; his siblings: Pearl Brakke, Dale Marlow, Janet Lentsch, and Mary Lou Anderson; as well as 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and his dogs Gracie, Allie, and Mya.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: Lorraine, Ethel, Shirley, Gloria (Dolly), LaVonne and Robert; a granddaughter, Cristi Gingerich; a great-granddaughter Alexis Gingerich; and his favorite dog, Okie.

A celebration of life will be April 23, 2022, 1:00 PM at the Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge in Camden-Wyoming Delaware.
