FREDERICK JOSEPH STEINER

Frederick Joseph Steiner, 92, of Sun City, AZ passed away November 5, 2022. A mass will be held Nov 16, 2022 at St Elizabeth Seton in Sun City, AZ. A celebration of life and burial will be held at a later date in Eden, SD.

Fred was born Sep 28, 1930 in Eden, SD to Frank Jr. and Kathryn (Vogel) Steiner. He attended the local school in Eden and also graduated from the Wahpeton School of Science in ND. He proudly served his country during the Korean war during the years 1953-1955. He then returned home to his farm occupation. Fred loved farming and also mechanics. He owned and operated his own garage in Eden. He also built the Blue Denim and ran that business for several years.

Fred always had a smile on his face and a piece of candy in his pocket. Everyone who met him walked away as a friend and he will be greatly missed.

On May 2, 1992 Fred was united in marriage to Jean (Michlitsch) Dempsey at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Tombstone, AZ and they recently celebrated 30 years of marriage. They made their home in Sierra Vista, AZ until retiring in 1993 and they then moved to Sun City, AZ and also had a home in Eden, SD. They spent their retirement renovating several homes and traveling to and from SD and AZ.

Fred is survived by his wife, Jean, his two step children, Allan Dempsey of Sun City, AZ; Denise (Joseph) Fox of Freedom, NY; four granddaughters, and five great grandchildren. He also is survived by three brothers: Duane (Pam) Steiner of Conrad, MT, Florenz Steiner of Sisseton, SD, Elmer (Vivian) Steiner of Eden, SD, and sister-inlaw Paula (Alvin) Steiner of Webster, SD, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank Jr and Katheryn, brothers Norbert, Laverne, Dan, and Alvin Steiner, three sisters, Lorraine Waletich, Coletta Aldentaler and Ruth Pruitt; stepson Thomas Dempsey; grandson Jason Dempsey, and granddaughter Caitlin Fox-Tohm.
