EILEEN BRUDOS WEICK

In Loving Memory of Eileen Brudos Weick, Age 93. Born Eileen Faye Brudos on August 24, 1930, in Lake City, South Dakota, Eileen passed away on January 29, 2024 in Mesa, AZ with the comfort of family by her side.

Eileen’s life was marked by enthusiasm for learning, teaching, and caring for family. Growing up on the Curtis-Brudos farm, now known as Six-Mile Ranch, she attended Lake City Elementary School, graduated from Sisseton High School, and then went on to attend South Dakota State University. In 1951, she departed college in grandeur after attaining a bachelor’s degree with High Honor in Home Economics and a claim to fame by winning several competitions and Top Honors as the only female competitor at the SDSU Little International livestock judging competition.

After graduating SDSU she taught High School for two years at Wilmot, SD. She met the love of her life, Ray Weick, while attending SDSU, and were married on June 27, 1953. Relocating to Arizona that same year, they embarked on a journey that would span 68 years together, creating a lifetime of cherished memories spent largely in Tucson, AZ. Joining Ray in pursuit of a master’s degree from MSU, Eileen earned her Master of Arts, Home Management in 1960. She worked as a home economics teacher in Yuma, AZ and supported Ray as he completed his doctorate at NCSU in 1966-68.

In 1968, Eileen and Ray fully settled in Tucson, where as a mother of four, she blended her master of home economics with a nurturing spirit, managing the household while supporting her children’s school and extracurricular activities. She guided numerous 4-H club members in the community as well, leaving a lasting legacy of mentorship as their leader.

Retirement in 1989 ushered in new adventures as Eileen and Ray explored the world together, creating cherished memories across continents. Closer to home, they found joy in their RV community, and traveled throughout the United States to participate in dog agility competitions with their beloved schnauzers. Despite the lure of faraway places, for 23 summers they found their way back to family and friends at Six-Mile Ranch in Lake City, SD. During this time, they attended the Britton Presbyterian Church.

Eileen moved to Mesa, AZ just a couple of years ago to be closer to family. She really enjoyed her long morning walks through her community and was much appreciated by the family member dogs that often accompanied her.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Ernest L. and Pearl C. Brudos, her beloved husband, Raymond K. Weick, and sister-in-law Eleanor (Darwin) Brudos. She is survived by her brothers Darwin and Curt Brudos (Phyllis), and her sister JoAnn Hansen (Berge).

Eileen’s legacy lives on through her four loving children whose lives she touched with unwavering love and support: Joni Boulware (Doug Drexler), Dana Weick (Debbie), Bari Weick (Karen) and Kori Henderson (Jim). She was a grandmother to seven grandchildren: Erica Parten (Bryce), Rebecca Cosarba (George), Sarah Rollinger, Alex Weick and Sam, Leila and Marcus Weick; as well as great-grandmother to Ford Parten, Lena, Isla, and Annie Cosarba.

May she rest in eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure through the generations.
