EDITH J. (JOHNSON) LEHR

Edith J. (Johnson) Lehr, 94, passed away at the Wishek Living Center on June 21, 2022. Funeral services will be held on September 27, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St Luke’s Lutheran Church, Wishek with burial to follow at St Luke’s cemetery.

Edith “Nettie” Lehr was born May 12, 1928 in rural Logan County to Alfred and Lydia (Schnabel) Johnson. She grew up and graduated from high school in Britton, SD. She earned her teaching certificate after attending teaching school in Madison, SD. She married Ivan Lehr on July 25, 1950. Initially, she taught at country schools in SD and Logan County, ND. After marriage, she lived on the Lehr homestead, where she raised two children, Lana (Bob) Reierson of Tower City, ND and Patti LaChance of Windsor, CA. Together, Ivan and Edith farmed/ranched until 2000, when she moved into Wishek.

Nettie enjoyed homemaking, including cooking, crafts, gardening and preserving foods. She enjoyed playing cards and board games and reading. She had an affinity for the many animals under her care, but had a special pet after she moved into town, her dog, Patches. Edith was an active member of the Morningside Homemaker’s club and a participant in her circle club.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan, her parents and siblings, MaryAnn, Bill, Linda, and Carol.

She is survived by her children, siblings, Carmen, Nancy and Gail and her stepmother, Lorena, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
