DURWOOD D. THAYER

Durwood D Thayer gave in to his battle with kidney disease April 1, 2023 at the age of 93.

He is survived by his 2 sons and daughter, Tim, Tom (Mona) & Vicki. As well as his seven grandchildren, Brooke, Josh, Tawna, Shaina, Tyler, Morgan and Bo, and his six great grandchildren Mckenzie, Avery, Cora, Ethan, Mataya, and Blake, as well as one sister Bonnie Sheldon.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris, daughter Val (Tommy), parents Clifford and Edith Thayer, four brothers and sisters (Delmer, Virgil, Shirley and Arlene.)

Durwood joined the Air Force in January 1947 thru December 1949. Married Doris October 1950 and worked on his father in law’s farm from 1950-1957. He then worked for Thorps in Britton, SD from 1957-1967. From there he and Doris packed up the family and moved to Billings where he worked at Hall Perry Machinery until 1992 as a mechanic and then Service Manager where he retired and took on a part time position with the School District in Billings as an aid on a school bus from 1992 to 2007.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and yard work.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral Services were held May 6th at 1:00 pm at the Cremation & Funeral Gallery in Billings, MT. Celebration of Life followed at the VFW with the Luncheon provided by the VFW Auxiliary. Inurnment to take place in Britton, SD on June 17, 2023 at 2:00 pm.
