DUANE MICHLITSCH

The Mass of Christian Burial for Duane Michlitsch was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Eden. Rev. Fr. Ken Lulf celebrated the mass. Visitation was from 5-7:00 Friday, February 11, 2022 at the church, concluding with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Spring interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery of Eden under the direction of the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.

Duane Alan Michlitsch was born August 11, 1962 in Webster, SD to Lyle and JoAnn (Janisch) Michlitsch. He attended school in Langford and graduated from Langford High School in 1981. During high school years, he was active in the FFA.

After graduation Duane stayed on the family farm and raised hogs. He had a deep affection for animals, and had a special place in his heart for cats. Duane loved to hear stories of the older days, when there were horses, steam engines, thrashing, when neighbors helped neighbors and had time for each other. Over the years he had amassed quite a collection of older vehicles. Duane had a kind heart and enjoyed visiting with friends over an occasional beer.

Duane was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eden where he had served as an usher for many years. He belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters and was willing to help wherever he was needed.

Duane passed away on the farm on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the age of 59.

Grateful for having shared his life are his father, Lyle Michlitsch of Langford; his siblings: Cindy Michlitsch of Watertown, SD; Janet (Donovan) Moschell of Wall, SD; Judy (David) Hagen of Florence, SD; James Michlitsch of Langford; and eleven nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his maternal and paternal grandparents; his mother, his brother, Paul, and a nephew.
