DONALD J. “BUD” STIEHA

DONALD J. “BUD” STIEHA

Donald J. “Bud” Stieha passed away on April 7, 2023, at the age of 72 while in the caring hands of Sanford Hospice House in Fargo, ND.

Bud was born on October 7, 1950, to Donald and Gladysann (Kasperson) Stieha in Britton, SD. Bud grew up on his family farm and attended school in Britton, SD until he graduated high school in 1968. After high school, Bud enlisted in the Navy and spent six years serving his country. He went on to attend North Dakota State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. After graduating, Bud started working in IT. He spent many years working for General Equipment, but most recently, he was working for Titan Equipment in Fargo.

OnAugust 25, 1979, Bud was united in marriage to LeeAnn Bergquist. Together they made their home in Fargo.

Bud had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His happy place was at their lake home in South Dakota; there he could enjoy his two favorite things: family and the outdoors. Bud was a triedand-true Bison sports fan and enjoyed attending RedHawks baseball games. What brought Bud even more joy was being involved, and following his nieces and nephews, and greatnieces and nephews, extra-curricular events. Bud was everyone’s biggest fan; it seemed anywhere he went, he was everyone’s “Uncle Bud”.

Bud loved life and loved sharing life with his family and friends. He would bring joy and laughter into almost any situation, even with one of his charmingly dry jokes. Bud was kind and compassionate. He demonstrated that daily with his involvement in the community and his church, Dilworth Lutheran Church. Bud was a long-time member of the American Legion and VFW in Moorhead. He also served as a board member for Eventide Lutheran Homes.

Bud will be greatly missed and forever lovingly remembered by his entire family, friends, and everyone who knew him as “Uncle Bud”.

Bud is survived by his wife of 43 years, LeeAnn; daughter, Christina Sorensen; grandchildren, Janna, Cam, and Kennedy Sorensen; sisters, Becke Hicks and Laurie (Steve) Klefstad; brothers, John (Vicki) Stieha and Todd (Patty) Stieha; aunt, Joyce Stieha; sisters-in-law, Jeannie (Kenny) Highness, Lori (Jon) Quittschreiber; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Gladysann; sister, Dawn Skog; and brother-in-law and sister-inlaw, Bill and Annie Bergquist.

A Memorial Service was previously held. Bud’s burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fergus Falls, MN in the spring.
