His arrangements have been entrusted to the Price Funeral Chapel of Britton.

Charles Frederick Wismer was born October 20, 1934 in Britton, SD to Moritz Edward and Clara (Stiles) Wismer. He grew up and attended school in Britton, graduating from Britton High School. In 1954 he enlisted in the US Air Force.

In 1955, Bud was united in marriage with Colleen Sieverts in Salt Lake City, UT. Bud was stationed in Bitburg, Germany, and Colleen joined him there. Their son, Kenny was born there in 1957. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to the United States in 1958 and he joined his father in the lumber yard business. After moving back to Britton, they became parents of a daughter, Donna in 1958.

After his father’s death, Bud managed the lumber yard for a number of years, and was joined by his brother, Dick in the business. They continued in the lumber yard, and also manufactured boats for a period of time. Eventually Bud went into farming, which he continued to do until retiring at the age of 65.

Bud was always very civic minded and had served on the Britton City Council and also as Mayor of Britton. He was a member of the Britton United Methodist Church, had belonged to the Development Corporation and the Marshall County Zoning board in years past. In his spare time, Bud greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 66 years, Colleen Wismer of Britton; his daughter, Donna (Roger) Scotting of Ivanhoe, MN; a granddaughter, Michele Scotting and a great-grandson, Austin Scotting, both of Ivanhoe, MN. He is also survived by his brother, Richard “Dick” Wismer of Britton.
