CAROL GOEDERT

The memorial service for Carol Goedert will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 2, 2023 at First Lutheran Church of Britton. Rev. Terrill Sorensen will officiate the service. Carol will be buried in the spring at Fort Snelling National Cemetery with her husband.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Carol Jean Lien was born August 21, 1932 in Veblen, SD to Raymond and Clara (Skarnagel) Lien. She attended all of her schooling in Veblen and graduated from Veblen High School in in 1950.

In June of 1951 she married Clayton Goedert in Veblen. Clayton was deployed overseas so during that time Carol lived with family in Britton. Once Clayton returned from the service, they farmed north of Veblen until 1978. From there they moved to Prior Lake, MN and both worked for the United States Postal Service in Minneapolis.

Carol loved to plan and go on trips from Mexico to Europe. After Clayton’s death she moved to Aberdeen, SD for a short period of time. She then moved back to Britton so she could be closer to family. In 2015 due to failing health she entered Sun Dial Manor in Bristol, SD where she resided until her death.

Carol passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Sun Dial Manor in Bristol, SD at the age of 90.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Dianne (Dan) Yelkin and David (Julia) Goedert; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and her daughter, Debra.
