ARLENE M. KUEHL

Arlene M. Kuehl, age 86, of Clear Lake, SD passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at the Milbank Area Hospital Avera. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, SD with Rev. Sandy Marquardt officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake and will resume Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 3 pm on Monday, September 12th in the Selby Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Selby, SD. Houseman Funeral Home in Clear Lake, SD is entrusted with the arrangements.

Arlene Marie Kuehl was born February 14, 1936 in Herreid, South Dakota to Edward and Mary (Heimbuch) Bohlander. She was raised in Campbell County, SD where she attended country school and graduated from Herreid High School in 1953. Following high school, she attended summer sessions at Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD and taught country school near Mound City, SD for one year.

She was united in marriage to Tilmer Richard Kuehl on November 28, 1954 at the Congregational Church in Selby, SD. Following their marriage, they lived in Selby, Canby, MN, Aberdeen, Frederick and Conde, SD. In 1968, they moved to Britton, SD where they owned and operated custom meat processing plant where she was a meat wrapper until they sold their business in April of 2005.

Tilmer died on December 31, 2006 after 52 years of marriage. Arlene then moved to Clear Lake, SD in the spring of 2007. In December of 2019, she moved into the Deuel County Good Samaritan Society and then moved to the Avantara Nursing Home in Milbank in June of 2022. Arlene passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Milbank Area Hospital Avera at the age of 86.

Arlene was active in the United Methodist Church UMW and Circle. She taught Sunday school, was a youth group leader, girl scout leader and 4-H leader. Arlene enjoyed crafts, sewing and quilting as well as outdoor activities including camping, snowmobiling and fishing.

She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Debra (Mark) Cormier, Hutchinson, MN, Tamra (Darrell) Zumbaum, Lewisville, TX and Michelle, (Jayme) Gross, Clear Lake, SD; four grandchildren: Tyler (Justine) Cormier, Clarissa (Mike Ammermann) Cormier, Kayla Zumbaum and Ethan Gross; three great grandchildren: Ayden, Gavin, and Brynlee Cormier; step great grandchildren: Ava, Alec and Ashton Cook; four brothers: Wilmer (Katie) Bohlander, Aberdeen, SD, Edward Bohlander, Aberdeen, SD, Vern Bohlander, Sioux Falls, SD and Clarence (Betty) Bohlander, Sugar Gove, IL; one sister, Lanette (Mike) Morgan, Muscatine, IA; brother-in-law, Orvil (Lucille) Kuehl, Selby, SD; sisterin- law, LaVerne (Vernard) Hoffman, Bismarck, ND and many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister Virginia.
