ANNA M. WITHAM

The graveside service for Anna M. Witham will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2026 in the Britton Cemetery, Britton, SD. Diane Hoines will lead the service.

Anna Marie Marti was born in Britton on August 8, 1939 to Mathias and Maria (Heine) Marti of Brampton, ND. She attended grade school in Brampton and High School in Britton, graduating in 1957. While working as a waitress in the Coffee Bar, she caught the eye of David Witham and they dated and later married in the Presbyterian Church on June 4, 1958.

While her husband taught grade school and junior high for the first 6 years of their marriage, Ann enjoyed being a homemaker. While living in Veblen, daughter Barbara Ann was born in May 1959. Two years later, while living in Barnard, son Jay was born in January 1961. In 1963 they moved to Britton. With the kids in school, Ann started working, first at the Britton Hospital doing patient registration and later as a bookkeeper at Thorp Auto.

In 1981, they moved to OKC for a job opportunity. Ann worked for BC Clark Jewelers and later for FAAFederal Credit Union until her retirement. She moved back to Britton for several years before relocating back to OKC to be near her kids and grandchildren.

Ann had a caring and generous heart. Her children, nieces and nephews, as well as her grandchildren, enjoyed being around her. Her hobbies were sewing and embroidering but her special talent was interior decorating. She was able to enjoy her lovely apartment up until a few months before her passing on May 19, 2026.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents, Maria and Mathias Marti; her infant son, Marti Lynn; brothers, Herman and Frederick Marti; her in-laws, Arden and Irene Witham; brothers-in-law, Alan Witham, Claire Witham and Barney Hanse; and sistersin-law, Bonnie and Vicky Witham.
