Garret Gross, age 83, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025 after a long illness. He was born on July 4, 1942 to Maurice and Frances Gross. He was in graduate school when his father suffered a fatal heart attack. It was then that he decided to study cardiology. He graduated in 1971 from the University of Utah Medical School. Upon graduation, he devoted 40 years to heart research at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. He was an internationally recognized scientist for his contributions to the causes of cardiovascular disease. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol. Per his wishes, cremation was chosen. There will be a memorial service at a later date. Shannon Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
