MARILYN JONDAHL
Marilyn passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Bethesda Home of Aberdeen at the age of 84.
Marilyn Eikanas was born April 11, 1941, on Good Friday, in rural Langford, to Joseph and Mary (Kristofferson) Eikanas with Dr. Graff in attendance. As an infant the family moved to Seattle, WA where she spent the next five years. When WWII was over, the family moved back to SD. She attended school at Pierpont and Clark, before moving back to Langford in 1951. She graduated from Langford High School in 1959 as the class valedictorian. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Langford.
Marilyn married her sweetheart, James “Jim” Jondahl on July 25, 1959. They were the parents of three children: Craig, Kevin and Lisa. When the children were young, she taught Sunday school and Bible school. She was also a Girl Scout leader and a den mother for Boy Scouts.
Marilyn loved music, singing in the church choir for 25 years and was a 40+ member of the Eve Circle. She had a passion for reading, gardening and canning, and crafts. She also enjoyed being part of her book club in Langford.
After Jim’s death in 1987, she worked three years at the nursing home in Britton and then worked for the town of Langford and the Langford Bugle until she retired at the age of 62.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Kevin Jondahl of Aberdeen, Lisa (James) Cutler of Claremont and daughter-in-law, Lana Jondahl of Groton; seven grandchildren: Andy (Samantha) Jondahl of Watertown, Landon (Jessica) Jondahl of Aberdeen, Carter Jondahl of Watertown, Sashia (Tom) Toennies of Cresbard, Peyton Jondahl of Aberdeen, Greyson (Jamie) Cutler of Groton, Lily (Colton) Cutler of Story City, IA; her greatgrandchildren: Lane, Levi, Lawson and Lexton Jondahl of Watertown, Beckett and Joelle Jondahl of Aberdeen, Owen, Liam, and Ella Toennies of Crestbard, and Aryanna Cutler of Groton; her sisters, Arla Rasmussen and Marcia (Max) LaMarche; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rodney and Leone Jondahl; and sisters-inlaw, Miriam Jondahl and Lois (Jondahl) Dow.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Jim; her son, Craig; her parents, Joe and Mary (Kristofferson) Eikanas; sister, Shirley Pischke; brother, Loren and his wife, LaRee Eikanas; her in-laws, Olger and Alice Jondahl; and brothers-in-law, Gary Rasmussen and Richard, Loren, Henry and Don Jondahl.
