He was born May 25, 1943 to Clarence and Talena (Malpert) Krause. He grew up on a farm west of Hecla and graduated from Hecla High School in 1961. After high school, he began his lifelong career of farming the family farm. On July 8, 1972, he married LuWanna Funston Swanson and with her daughter Kelly Swanson they moved into their home in Hecla. In 1974, Donald & LuWanna’s son Cody was born. LuWanna passed away September 18, 2021. Don enjoyed fishing and his trips to the Casino.

He is survived by his son Cody Krause; his siblings, Dorothy Schroeder, Patricia (Richard) Bell, Sharon (Lonnie) White and Sandra Krause; grandsons Landon Bushby and Lance Bushby; and son-in-law, Randy Bushby.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife LuWanna, daughter Kelly Bushby, siblings Carol Gillespie, Beverly Elsen, and Norman Krause.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 11:00 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hecla. Burial will be at the Hecla City Cemetery.
