DARLYS GARSKE

The memorial service for Darlys Garske will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2024 at First Lutheran Church. Rev. Corky Spitler will officiate the service. Spring inurnment will be at the Britton Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Darlys (Carlson) Garske was born on June 21, 1935, to Fritz and Emma (Rye) Carlson in Britton, SD. She attended school in Britton, graduating in 1953. She held several jobs during her high school years – one was bookkeeper/clerk at Miller-Bonham Grocery for several years.

She was united in marriage to Donald Garske of Wisconsin on June 12, 1955. To this union, two children were born Brian and David.

Darlys was member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Hospital Auxiliary, WELCA Circle, and First Lutheran Church. Also, a member of Marshall County Historical Society.

Darlys passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at Wheatcrest Hills in Britton, at the age of 89.

She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Margaret), Brockport, NY; two granddaughters, Jayna (Gordon) Streeter, Elmira, NY and Hannah (James) Melia, Rochester, NY; three greatgrandsons: Nolan, Bronson and Sean Streeter; and great-granddaughter, Morgan Melia. Son, David (Kayce), Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughter, Stefanie Garske, Virginia Beach, VA and grandson, Anthony Garske, Moyock, NC. Brother, Norman Carlson, Britton, SD and sister, Marion (Orville) West, Groton, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Donald Garske; parents, Fritz and Emma Carlson; sister, Elaine (Nort) Bergman, sister, Marilyn (Jack) Hoglund, and sister-inlaw, Nita Carlson.

Poll: END OR RETAIN EXPANDED MEDICAID COVERAGE? South Dakota voters will decide in November on a proposed constitutional amendment that would end the state’s expanded Medicaid coverage if the federal government’s share of funding for the expansion falls below 90%. The expansion, approved by voters in 2022, provides Medicaid eligibility to certain adults ages 19 to 64 with incomes up to the federal limit established by the constitutional amendment. The proposed amendment would remove that expanded coverage if the federal funding level drops below 90%. If the election were held today, how would you vote?
