South Dakota businesses are feeling the costly effects of the lingering global supply chain issues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, but many business operators are finding creative ways to keep shelves stocked, to reduce the impact on customers and to continue making a profit.
An official groundbreaking for the 55,000 square foot expansion at Horton, Inc., in Britton was held on Nov. 1. Britton native and former South Dakota governor Frank Farrar passed away at the age of 92. He served as governor from 1969- 1971 and had resided in Britton since that time.

The hope that 2021 would bring about some sense of normalcy after a year of upheaval due to the COVID-19 pandemic was partially realized, but the threat of the virus continued to hang over Marshall County and the world for the past 12 months and ranks as the top story in Journal Country for the second consecutive year.

Judith Schultz, Marshall County’s Natural Resources Conservation Service District Conservationist, is retiring on Dec. 31.
Clint and Kelly Brandlee of Pierpont have been named the 2021 AgVocates of the Year.
