Storybook Land Theatre Travels Area, Entertains
Aberdeen’s Storybook Land Theatre (SBLT) has been hitting the road this summer, bringing music, laughter, and live theater to Journal Country. Audiences of all ages have enjoyed free performances of the play “The Perfect Dog,” plus live concerts.
Over the last week, the SBLT troupe has been busy. On Saturday, they stopped in Eden to perform. On Monday, they shared music at Wheatcrest Hills Healthcare Center in Britton before putting on the whole show in Veblen that evening. The rest of the week includes stops in Sisseton before wrapping things up at the Brown County Fair.
This year’s Storybook Land Theatre cast includes Ashtyn Bahr, Zach Lopez, Sadie Raap, Ava Rott, Jackson Rott, Brian T. Schultz, Claire Vetter, Alice Vogel and Coen Vogel. These talented actors not only act, but also sing and play various instruments. The SBLT tour this summer includes several concerts in addition to performances of “The Perfect Dog.”
In “The Perfect Dog,” Sam, a 12-year-old perfectionist, searches for a flawless dog to enter in the town’s contest. Unable to find a canine that measures up, Sam must resort to training the family dog, Max, who is less than eager to obey commands. In the end, Max and Sam learn that there is no such think as perfect… but there is such a thing as being perfect for each other.
SBLT is in its 35th season of presenting family-friendly entertainment. Throughout the summer, the group performs eight different shows at the Storybook Land Castle in Aberdeen’s Wylie Park in addition to the touring show.
All local performances were free to the public and are sponsored by local organizations.
