Relay For Life On Saturday

The 24th Annual American Cancer Association Relay for Life is ready, set, go for this weekend, Saturday, June 10. It will be held at Britton-Hecla School Arena. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. with survivor registration beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The theme this year is “Every Step Bring Hope.” Six teams plan to participate this year, and the public is encouraged to join as well. The afternoon and evening will be filled fun events. Bingo is fun for all ages as winners get to choose from tables of great prizes. A silent auction will feature a number of nice options including quilts, baskets for men, women and children, kitchen items and some mystery baskets.

Food and goodies will be available, so people are encouraged to come for supper. Teams will be selling tasty items like walking tacos, pulled pork sandwiches, snow cones, hot dogs and sweet treats.

Meaningful activities to honor those affected by cancer are also planned. Luminary bags and solar lights will be on display and can be purchased to honor survivors and remembers love ones lost to cancer. The names will be read during the Luminary Ceremony around 9 p.m. when all the luminaries are lit. The closing candlelight ceremony is especially impactful.

Funds raised prior to and during the Relay for Life help fund cancer research, education and patient programs and services.
