Kick Up Your Heels With The Dirty Boot Band March 16

A lot of country and a little bit of rock and roll! That’s how The Dirty Boot Band describes themselves. This unique young band made up of two families will be coming to Britton soon as they entertain the crowd at the Britton Chamber’s St. Patrick’s Day Bash on March 16.
The Dirty Boot Band hails from central South Dakota.  They are farm and ranch families made up of the Nickolas crew and Weinheimer boys. On the Nickolas side, you have Sheridan who plays acoustic guitar, bass violin and vocals. Addie plays the banjo, guitar, and vocals. Jace is a mandolin player and on vocals, and Ty, the youngest band member at only 12-years-old, tosses in his vocals, percussion, and harmonica.   The Weinheimer gentlemen consist of Jacob who plays bass, guitar and vocals, Sam on the drums and Simon as lead electric guitar.
The families grew up with music and have played together since they were little.  As cousins, they were continually scheming to find a way to “not have to go home yet” so music was a good excuse to hang out a little longer.
The Nickolas kids started guitar lessons in kindergarten at St. Joseph’s School. “But we really think the biggest influence on the kids was the late Alan Weinheimer,” said Aimee Nickolas, part of the group’s mom and de facto manager.  “Alan was part of a band in his younger years and his love of music has passed on to his kids and nieces and nephews, which led to a variety of instruments found around the house.”
Aimee added, “He would play bass and sing with his boys and when the Nickolas cousins would come over, Alan would be found playing a violin with one kid, harmonica with another and then often enter the room with his deep voice in song.”
The Dirty Boot Band plays mostly old and new country songs with a few 80’s rock numbers and even adds some original tunes for a rare treat.  In their time as an organized group, the band has traveled throughout South Dakota and a little into Minnesota.  They have even played at the SD State Fair with Sherwin Linton and the Cotton Pickers.
Energy, youthfulness and being a laid-back crew make this band fun to listen to and watch. They particularly enjoy filling the dance floor. They are a hardworking bunch of ag kids, who know how to get their boots dirty and love to share their musical talents.
Britton Area Chamber Executive Director Emily Van Lith emphasized how excited they are to welcome The Dirty Boot Band to town. “We are happy to have The Dirty Boot Band providing this year’s entertainment at our big event. We look forward to hosting our annual banquet this year with a new St. Patrick’s Day twist!  Our board has worked tirelessly over the last few years to breathe new life into the Chamber of Commerce by providing new and updated events.”
All ages are invited to enjoy the band and other fun on March 16 at the Britton Event Center. The band starts at 8:30, with a $10 cover charge if attending that part only. A cash bar and bottomless green beer will be available. Prizes will also be awarded for the best dressed individual and group, and the 2023 Britton Area Chamber Business of the Year will also be honored.
“It will be a fun night, and we invite everyone in Britton and the surrounding area to join us,” added Van Lith. ”Come dressed in your best green as we raise funds for a  new mural. The mural will be unveiled at this year’s Harvest Days festival.”
Tickets for the meal earlier in the evening are still available. An RSVP is necessary for the meal and folks can contact brittonareachamber@gmail.com for tickets or more information or call 605-448-8130.
