County In Presidential Disaster Declaration

Governor Kristi Noem announced last week that South Dakota has received a Presidential Disaster Declaration that allows the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help South Dakota local governments in the counties of Marshall, Brown, Clark, Codington, Day, Faulk, Grant, Hand, Potter, and Roberts, as well as the Lake Traverse Indian Reservation.

On June 2nd, Governor Kristi Noem signed an order, which declared a disaster in the impacted counties. An estimated $2,305,362 in qualifying costs were incurred during the flooding in those counties listed. Marshall County submitted about $350,000 in damages.

Federal resources can now help with recovery from infrastructure damage sustained as a result of severe spring flooding.

For Marshall County jurisdictions that submitted damages, they are encouraged to attend an information meeting next Tuesday to learning about next steps in process. The meeting will be at 9 a.m. at the Fire Hall.
