COMMISSION: HWY 10 WORK TO START IN AUG.

    At Tuesday’s Marshall County Commission meeting, Highway Superintendent Dustin Hofland updated the board regarding his meeting with the state about Highway 10 work. He noted that they do not plan to start on the project west of Britton until August. Closer to that date, a haul road agreement will be drawn up.
    Director of Equalization Kassi Jones met with the board. Two changes in assessed values were approved for Sandy Beach LLC in Buffalo Township. 
    The commission participated in a teleconference with Wade Huntington from the SD Department of Health regarding the Community Health Nurse contract. Huntington will be drafting a new contract in which the county will provide nurse clerical service and nurse office space in exchange for the state providing community health nursing services at no cost to the county.
    Raises for two county employees were okayed. State’s Attorney Victor Rapkoch was raised to $51,000/year, and Bailee Yule, who completed an Emergency Medical Dispatch certification was raised to $20/hour. 
    In other business, a malt beverage license for Chinatown in Eden was approved. Two representatives from FEMA met with the board regarding the previously tabled flood plain ordinance. The board asked questions and will meet with the officials again at a future meeting. 
    BJ Richter of the Britton Baseball and Softball Committee met with the board. He updated the group on work at the ballfields and future plans. He did not ask for funds though noted they are still in the process of fundraising for their efforts. 
 In zoning, a drainage permit was approved for Glacial Farm/Darian & Andrea Kilker-Stena Township. A plat was approved for F & M Subdivision - Lake (Roy Lake). Building permits were accepted for Ren Herke - Buffalo and Kent Erickson – Hickman.
