City Positions Up For Election

Area city board positions will be up for election this spring.

Petitions may be taken out for open positions beginning Friday in area towns with the exception of Eden when petitions will be available Tuesday. Those petitions may be obtained at city offices and must be filed with city officials by Friday, Feb. 2 (Eden by Tuesday, Feb. 28). Any elections needed will be held on Tuesday, April 11.

Board openings around the area include two positions on the Langford Board of Trustees. A three-year spots currently held by Todd Sell and Orrie Jesz are up for election.

Three two-year terms for council positions expire this year in Veblen. Those spots are in Wards 1, 2, and 3. The positions held by Kristin Hofland and Kerry Anderson are open plus one seat that is currently unoccupied. Mary Dunn’s three-year term in Eden also expires this spring.

Other positions up for election include a three-year position in Lake City, the three-year term for Pierpont Chairman Steve Cameron expires this spring, as does the three-year Claremont trustee position held by Jason Spencer.

Britton and Hecla hold later elections than the other town. The Britton city election will be Tuesday, June 6, with petitions available beginning March 1 with a filing deadline of March 28. Spots up for election in Britton this year are Clyde Fredrickson for Mayor, Cristy Davidson in Ward 1, Brian Beck in Ward 2, and Shane Storley in Ward 3. All are for two-year terms.

Hecla’s election will also be in June. They will announce open positions at a later date.
