Bosse, Ringkob Reign As Queens

The 76th Britton Area Snow Queen Festival was held on Saturday. The senior and junior Snow Queens were crowned during the evening’s festivities.

Regan Ringkob, daughter of Jennifer and Charles Ringkob of Lake City, was named Britton Area Snow Queen. Corinne Bosse, daughter of Christina and Duwayne Boss of Britton, was crowned Junior Snow Queen.

The new queens will compete in Aberdeen in the state Snow Queen Festival in January. The South Dakota Junior Snow Queen will be crowned on January 7 and the state Snow Queen will begin her reign on January 14.

Two senior girls and nine junior queen candidates competed in the event sponsored by the Britton Action Club with the theme “Oh, The Places You Will Go!” Cassidy Biel was named first runner up in the senior division. Karlie Zuehlke was the first runner up for Junior Snow Queen and Eboni Jackson was the second runner- up. Paisely Bray, a junior candidate, was voted as Miss Congeniality by her peers.

Other girls who participated in the Britton Festival were Maddie Biel, Sage Ford, Ava Teveldal, Mariah Tosse and Sadiejo Watson.

Last year’s Britton Snow Queen Marissa Sumption, who also earned the title Princess of Spring at the state festival in January, crowned the new queen, Ringkob. Last year’s, Junior Snow Queen Heather Storbakken crowned Bosse as well. The South Dakota State Snow Queen Macie Luce was also present and spoke briefly.

In a drawing to select the 2022 Little Miss and Little Master, Paisely Thayer, daughter of Tyler and Sheresa Thayer of Hecla was named Little Miss and Gage Beck, son of Kelley and Matt Beck of Hecla, was crowned Little Master. A total of fifteen girls and nine boys participated.

Emily Van Lith was unmasked as Frosty. A whopping 58 people correctly guessed her identity. Merit Jones, daughter of DaRae and Casey Jones, was awarded Britton Bucks in a drawing among the correct guesses.

Liz Waletich served as emcee for the Britton Festival. Laken Atkinson, 2022 Snow Queen Chair, awarded Sumption a $500 scholarship.

Langford’s Snow Queen Festival will be this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the school gym.
