B-I-N-G-O FOR A GOOD CAUSE

On Sunday, the Britton Event Center hosted a full house of folks who turned out to support some good causes and also have a lot of fun. Bingo was the name of the game and a couple hundred people enjoyed waiting for their numbers to be called.
The Britton American Legion, Post 80 hosted the fun event on Sunday. The day featured 21 games of bingo for big prizes like cash and gift cards. There were also drawings throughout the afternoon during and after the games. Many local businesses and groups donate to the event.
Not only is the afternoon a fun family-friendly activity, it also is a fundraiser for a variety of worthy local and regional causes. According to Post Commander Mike Kraft, the funds raised benefit community youth activities including Marshall County Shooting Sports.
The Legion also directs the monies earned at important veteran causes including the Honor Flight that sends vets to Washington, D.C. They support veterans experiencing hardships including food pantries that benefit vets. The local Legion has also been a large donor for the Veterans Memorial that is being built currently at the Britton Cemetery.
The American Legion Auxiliary were also busy at Sunday’s event. They fed the crowd a tasty meal and had raffle baskets to add to the prizes. The group served 225 servings of soup, close to a couple hundred sandwiches and too many plates of pie to count.
The Auxiliary also uses the activity to raise money for a noteworthy cause. They will be sending profits to the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs.
Both the American Legion and Auxiliary are always eager for new members. Interesting parties can reach out to Mike or Rose Kraft.
