B-H Interpers Compete, Plan For Local Contest

Florence High School hosted thirteen schools Saturday at their invitational oral interpretation tournament. Britton Hecla School took six contestants and came home with one Superior Plus, four Superiors, and two Excellent Plus ratings.

Oliver Moeckly’s humorous presentation was the lone Superior Plus. Brynlee Patterson earned Superiors for both her story telling and her serious reading. Cassidy Biel came home with a Superior in poetry, and Carter Chapin’s serious reading entry also earned a Superior. Excellent Pluses went to Faith Small in oratory and Braydon Casey in humorous.

The B-H Interpers will be competing in their local contest on Monday. The public is invited to attend. The event will start at 5 p.m. and take place in the High School Choir and Art rooms.

The following students will be competing at the local contest with their listed selection: In Storytelling: Brynlee Patterson- “Otis” and Faith Small- “Little by Little.” In Serious: Brynlee Patterson- “Why They Watch Us Burn,” Ashlyn Casey- “But Also Bring Cheese,” and Carter Chapin- “Nineteen Minutes.”

Duos include Ashlyn Casey and Oliver Moeckly- “God’s Favorite,” Carter Chapin and Emily Effling “The Book of Awesome,” Aiden Strong and Amelia Ingvalson- “1-800.”

In Oratory: Faith Small- “And Thy Name Shall Be Something,” and Regan Ringkob “Every Kid Needs a Champion.” Poetry selections include: Emily Effling- “Penny For Your Thoughts,” and Cassidy Biel- “Depression and Other Magic Tricks.”

In Humorous: Oliver Moeckly- “8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter,” Will Schuller- “The Rabbit Report,” Noah Schuster“The Day I Swapped My Dad forTwo Goldfish,” Braydon Casey- “Driving Ambition,” Elene Medina- “Having a Bad Hair Year.”

The Reader’s Theater selection “Poetry Fest” will include Will Schuller, Regan Ringkob, Cassidy Biel, Katee Freeman, and Ashlyn Casey.

Winners in each category will be eligible for Districts in Watertown on November 2.
